  • Main duties of the job

You will train alongside a skilled team of professionals who include nurses, community matrons, specialist nurses, health care assistants and therapy assistants.

As a Foundation Degree in Nursing Associate apprentice in Community Nursing: Folkestone Hythe and Rural team you will provide care to patients in their own homes, including residential homes, where appropriate. Community nurses work hard to treat patients at home so they do not have to go into hospital unnecessarily.

Nurses look after people who are housebound and who have nursing needs. They carry out a range of nursing procedures, for example, medicine administration, taking blood, dressing changes, and contributing to integrated care.

Nursing associates are members of the nursing team, who have gained a Foundation Degree, typically involving two years of higher education. They are not nurses; nursing is a graduate entry profession and those joining the nursing part of the NMC register require a degree. Nurses also develop additional skills and knowledge within a specific field of nursing. This job description reflects the six platforms of the Standards of Proficiency for Nursing Associates (2018)
  • Being an accountable professional
  • Promoting health and preventing ill health
  • Provide and monitor care
  • Working in teams
  • Improving safety and quality of care
  • Contributing to integrated care
