What will the apprentice be doing?
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Engineering Manufacturing Technician level 4 (Higher) Standard.
Mandatory qualifications:
L4 HNC in Engineering or Manufacturing disciplines that fully align with the KSBs of the standard - Level: 4.
Aerospace sector: In addition, those undertaking this apprentice in the aerospace sector must undertake the additional qualifications listed below in order to meet the Civil Aviation (CAA) requirements:
Aerospace mandatory qualification: Level 2 Diploma in Aerospace and Aviation Engineering (Foundation Competence) - Level: 2.
In order to meet the requirements set out by CAA, all individuals undertaking this apprenticeship must complete a period of mandatory protected training leading to the successful achievement of this mandated qualification.
Aerospace mandatory qualification Level 4 Diploma in Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (Development Competence) - Level: 4.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Within Johnson Controls, there are many progression avenues available within the quality team. There is the opportunity to progress on to higher or degree apprenticeships and gain further qualifications in the future to support your ongoing career development within the organisation.

GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 5) Essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 5) Essential
- Monitoring the production lines through product inspections, test inspections, goods inward inspections etc.
- Helping with and running product containments to ensure all quality concerns are contained
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office, producing quality documentation for the shopfloor
- Working with the shopfloor to understand and record quality concerns through the QRPS system
- Process quality assurance
- Understand the working of the parts we make and become a key member of cross functional teams and investigations
- Working with the engineering team for new product implementation, concessions, first off inspection.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Engineering Manufacturing Technician level 4 (Higher) Standard.
- All Johnson Controls apprentices benefit from structured training and support throughout the duration of the apprenticeship. You will start your apprenticeship with the company induction to give you a strong foundation for success
- The apprentice will be enrolled on to an engineering manufacturing technician apprenticeship
- You will receive a blend of remote and in-person training during the first 3 years of the apprenticeship course
