A Level or equivalent A Levels or BTEC Level 3/4 or HNC in Science (Grade Pass) Essential
Things to consider
All applicants need to be 18+ due to working with hazardous materials.
- Safely receive, inspect, sample and assess all incoming packaged waste in line with permit requirements prior to their disposal
- Assess hazards and the most suitable process route then record it on HazMat
- Report to the Stock Control Manager, working alongside other Stock Control Chemists
- Support all functions of the Waste Inventory team with specific responsibility for waste reception
- Train in all the relevant QHSE and legislative requirements of working at a Hazardous Waste site
- Provide regular process reports and stock reports to feedback to the Materials Manager
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- During this programme, we'll help you to develop your practical and behavioural skills and support you in gaining the technical and professional knowledge required for you to succeed in your career
- As well as this, you'll also study for an NVQ Level 6 (BSc degree) in Laboratory Scientist Chemist (Apprenticeship) with Manchester Metropolitan University
- With many of our colleagues starting as Apprentices, you'll receive full support and guidance from everyone throughout
- By the end of your Apprenticeship, you'll have received industry-standard training and attained qualifications that will enable you to progress and reach your full potential
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Candidates could progress into Laboratory Team Leader/Supervisor or go down a more operational route to become a Chemical Engineer or a Contract/Project Manager
