What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be learning on the job with the two existing members of the Press & PR team, and will be comfortable dealing with a wide range of internal departments, including interacting with the data analytics team and wider editorial staff.

You will learn about how to provide responses to the media, how to craft and distribute press releases, and how to plan and deliver public relations events and campaigns.

Key duties:
  • Support the Press & PR Manager and Press & PR Officer in their roles
  • Provide timely responses to journalist queries
  • Utilise systems and software to extract data
  • Support with wider areas including social media, public affairs, and events
  • Attend weekly online learning sessions with a dedicated tutor
  • Complete a variety of training activities including job shadowing, research, project portfolios and end point assessments.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The role is based on the successful completion of the Level 4 Public Relations and Communications Assistant apprenticeship, which is expected to last 12 months. The apprenticeship may lead to a permanent position at the end of the apprenticeship based on performance and subject to successful completion of all elements of the apprenticeship.

The course will be delivered as weekly day release live online lessons, managed by a dedicated programme leader to see you through your qualification and conduct progress reviews and feedback.
