What will the apprentice be doing?
  • Participate in engineering activities to define product requirements, create designs, perform simulation testing, and validate final hardware components
  • Under direct supervision can apply relevant standards/specifications
  • Can identify basic risks associated with a design and manufacture of products
  • Has a basic theoretical knowledge of engineering principles in one area
  • Helps maintain 6S and HSE standards
  • Work on assignments that are semi-routine in nature, but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice
  • Follow established procedures on routine work, requires instructions only on new assignments
  • Performs mechanical component development and integration using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) concepts using basic applicable methods
  • Under close supervision, provides expertise in designing, developing,manufacturing and testing mechanical components

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
  • You will be studying towards Level 6 Manufacturing engineer degree apprenticeship
  • You will be studying for this qualification through the University of Derby, 1 day per your working week
