Job Details
As part of ensuring we have a workforce for the future the Trust is delighted to be participating in the training of Nursing Associates. These posts have been designed to meet future healthcare service needs and to develop members of our existing workforce.
Successful applicants will be seconded into an apprenticeship post for two years , all education costs will be funded by Health Education England and the Trust.
Throughout the two year apprenticeship, apprentices will work predominantly in a substantive area in their clinical role alongside attending university one day per week to complete the academic components of the programme.
On completion of the programme candidates will be interviewed for a Band 4 Nursing Associate post within the Trust according to existing vacancies.
500 hours of external placements are required throughout the training to enable the nursing associate in training to gain the breadth of knowledge and experience required. This will be managed by the Practice Facilitator in conjunction with the apprentice and their line manager.
The Practice Facilitator will provide support throughout your training programme by facilitating your placements and providing oversight alongside your clinical team and academics at the university.
Main duties of the job
To be considered for interview you must:
- Either be currently employed by Homerton Healthcare in a substantive Health Care Assistant post in an appropriate clinical setting. OR be working as a band 2 or 3 Health Care Assistant in another organisation.
- You must hold a valid visa (lasting at least three years) if applicable or have UK residency/permanent right to remain. Original documents will need to be brought to interview.
- You need to have completed the care certificate.
- You will need to have Functional skills Level 2/GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in both Maths and English. Certificates evidencing this will need to be submitted with application and brought to interview
- External candidates must submit copy of their Care Certificate and qualifications alongside their application directly to huh-tr.nursingassociates@nhs.net.
