This Panel Apprenticeship offers a great opportunity to work in a modern Bodyshop-type environment, working on a broad range of vehicles to develop a level of skilled craft in Panel Repair & Replacement.
A Vehicle Damage Panel Technician works within the collision repair workshop, demonstrating expert working knowledge in relation to the removal, repair and replacement of vehicle body panels to vehicle manufacturer specification. Technicians will use their skills to correctly identify the different body panel types and have the ability to use the correct repair tools to carry out the work to the highest possible standard.
A Panel Technician:
The Panel technician’s role also includes the repair and/or replacement of structural and non-structural body panels, carrying out thermal and non-thermal joining methods including: TIG, MIG, MAG, resistance spot welding, mechanical fasteners.
Using bonding and riveting techniques in-line with manufacturer’s specifications and approved researched repair methods.
A technician is also able to follow defined processes to rectify vehicle body misalignment using specialist vehicle alignment jigs.
