Job summary

An exciting opportunity has opened up in the Data Security and Protection team to work as an IG support, to help the Trust meet its statutory obligations.

This post has the benefit of a 19 month apprentice development programme. The apprentice will be required:

1. To achieve an apprentice standard (Key Skills, Certificate/Diploma and Technical Certificate) within the specified time frame. Attend all of the training sessions for the programme whenever necessary. Undertake any necessary home work during the length of the course.

2. To assist the department in the provision of the broad range of services provided, working under the supervision of the department staff.

An Apprentice is expected to expand and broaden their skills and abilities. Nonetheless, they must always operate under the direct supervision of a senior member of staff, unless operating according to agreed procedures that have been approved by the department.

Experience of working in IG is desirable, as the post holder will be working with a team and will be required to provide support and cover where required. Experience of working in the NHS is not essential but will be hugely beneficial, working in public sector would be desirable.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing IG support services to the Information Governance Manager/ DPO relating to all aspects of the Information Governance and the general Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The post holder will provide support to the Information Governance Steering Group, Action Group and the GDPR group support in following up of actions arising from those meetings. They will also be required to support any other groups as necessary.

The post holder will also provide support to the Information Governance function, liaising with key stakeholders across the trust in collating evidence to support the Data Security and protection (DSPT) Toolkit and other regulatory requirements.
