Job Details
At Godalming Youth Service you will be working towards a Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer qualification over the course of 15 Months.
We are looking for energetic, creative and motivated individuals to join us as an apprentice and begin making a difference in young people's lives. This position is open to anyone aged 16 or over, with no upper limit to the age of applicants. Godalming Youth Service have committed to paying the National Living Wage to ensure that this position is viable for a wider range of people than some other apprenticeships.
The apprenticeship is based at Broadwater Youth Centre in Farncombe (www.godalmingyouth.uk). Practically, the apprentice will work for the Youth Service for 30 hours per week, including hours required to complete apprenticeship studies. Flexibility of hours will be required to deliver youth work programs, core hours will be between 9:30 - 5:30, with some evening sessions (6.30pm - 8.30pm) required.
Responsibilities will include developing and eventually leading physical and sporting activity programmes such as Football, Basketball and other team games. The apprentice will also assist in developing Club4 School Holiday Programmes, which are positive and enriching activities for young people receiving free school meals. The activities at the youth centre are incredibly diverse, meaning that we can also adapt some of the apprentice's responsibilities to reflect their personal and career interests.
We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and homosexual, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently underrepresented within our workforce.
The apprenticeship will enable successful candidates to start an unrivalled 15-month programme of learning, gaining meaningful qualifications and have full support and mentoring based on your individual needs. Successful applicants will be offered full time employment with a recognised physical activity or sports-based employer, earning a wage whilst also working towards the Level 3 Community Sports and Health Offficer qualification with Coach Core as well as a whole host of additional learning opportunities. In addition, whilst employed directly by one organisation, there will also be access to a range of events, training opportunities and other experiences through the other supportive employers.
