Vacancy description

Main duties and responsibilities:

General:

  • work in reception
  • undertake other administrative and departmental tasks/duties

Data input:

  • input data

Work with other agencies and the public:

  • deal with a range of individuals and agencies in a friendly and efficient manner
  • give and obtain relevant information subject to the duty of confidentiality to the client

Administration:

  • undertake a range of administrative tasks relating to case files
  • record messages and ensure that the relevant fee earner receives information in a relevant and timely manner
  • deal with the post and the office diary in an efficient manner

Court work:

  • provide a link between the firm and court staff regarding specific cases

Office environment:

  • assist in work which maintains the fabric and quality of the work environment

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • computer literate, experience with Microsoft packages
  • ability to work to tight deadlines
  • ability to work as a team member
  • good interpersonal skills, including good telephone manner

Personal qualities

  • an understanding of the ethical principles of the firm
  • ability to adapt to an office environment, e.g. carrying files, answering the 'phone
  • willingness to participate in the day-to-day running of an office
  • tact

Desired qualifications

GCSE (or equivalent), grades A*-C/9-4 are desirable, although not essential for this role.

Future prospects

Once completion of your apprenticeship, the employer will be looking to take you on as a permanent employee.
