You will join as a Quantity Surveying Apprentice, and learn from our expert team of cost estimators and project managers. You will be work as a key member part of a multi-disciplinary team helping to predict the financial impacts that property or infrastructure assets have on a client's business model.

Our degree level Quantity Surveying apprenticeship is a five-year programme designed to help you get an industry recognised qualification, while gaining valuable work experience.
During the apprenticeship you will undertake a supervised programme of work-based training an online BSc degree progamme and an end point AssocRICS assessment. You will work in one of our offices alongside our experienced professionals.

We work in variety of sectors including infrastructure, energy, education, healthcare, utilities, and property. The role will be varied, and could include the following

  • Supporting the preparation of estimates and cost plans, valuations, and financial statements.
  • Helping to create monthly reports and standard documentation.
  • You will help with preparing and analysing tender documentation. You will have exposure to contract reviews and settlement of construction.

Qualifications required

For standard entry applicants, must have obtained 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 Tariff) or 230 UCAS tariff points (2016 Tariff) or have an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS Tariff

Or,

Have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction Technical through which a Construction and Built Environment Diploma with a minimum DD profile was obtained or through which a Construction and Built Environment Extended Diploma with a minimum MMM profile was obtained, or an equivalent qualification

Or,

Have a current RICS Associate qualification (AssocRICS)

And,

Have GCSE Grade C or equivalents or above in English and Mathematics (Grade 4 for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics as defined by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.

*Recognised qualifications having an equivalent level of attainment as those recognised by UCAS include: Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), professional qualifications from recognised institutions, certain armed forces qualifications and partially completed degrees.

Future prospects Upon completion of the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and the structured workplace learning you will undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence leading to registration with the RICS as a Chartered Surveyor.

Things to consider From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
