We have several exciting apprentice programmes running this year in the UK, Lear apprentice programmes are running in;
Coventry: UK Technical Centre Headquarters and world class Just In Time manufacturing facility, supplying Jaguar Land Rover.
Redditch: A world-class Just In Time manufacturing facility supplying Jaguar Land Rover.
Throughout all the programmes, you will use your creativity to bring ideas to life, develop specialist skills and knowledge but mainly push the boundaries of your potential. As a Lear Apprentice you will be mentored by industry-leading experts, we will pay for all your tuition and you will earn while you learn all this whilst gaining hands-on experience.
Industrial Engineering

  • Overview:
  • You will work with and support manufacturing.
  • Identifying process improvements to ensure production and quality targets are achieved.
  • You will work with all aspects of the business on new Model Year changes and new facility introductions, also with external supplier liaisons to ensure quality products are produced.
  • You will work closely with maintenance, Electrical department and our customers to introduce facility improvements and manage the change to process, through communicating to all involved.

By the end of the course you will be able to successfully deliver a capable project/engineering change within the timeline, budget and to exceed the customers' expectations by ensuring that the plant remains an innovative seating supplier to its customers.
Technical Optimisation Engineering
Overview: A customer's demanding product specification presents us with an exciting challenge to be met. To date, we have never turned away business because it was too difficult to meet the customer's specification. We are continuously thinking about how we can improve our products to meet our customers' requirements and often present ideas that our customers may not have thought of. Our aim is to design and manufacture assemblies that add value to our customers' product range.
Interfacing with Design and manufacturing with regard to quality, problem solving, assembly issues and improvements, in this role you will be optimising design, comfort, ergonomics and functionality as well as active and passive safety and in doing so we also pursue completely new methods and approaches in the service of our customers.
Due to their continuous further development of seat expertise, Lear's engineers and technicians continually have an opportunity to prove their skills in cooperation with system suppliers and OEMs such as Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Ford.
Project Engineer - (Electrical and Mechancial)
Overview: As a member of the seating development team, you will be responsible for cross functional engineering tasks to enable the seating and component design and validation plans to meet their key timing and critical objectives. Through a ‘hands on' engineering validation and approval process, you will be responsible to create and develop cost reduction ideas and liaise with our central engineering and our customer/supplier associates to ensure best in class product and costs opportunities are fully explored.
As you demonstrate your drive for implementation of design change, you will complete the engineering tasks whilst coordinating efficiently with the production and manufacturing teams, including quality, logistics and validation disciplines at Lear and at the customer and supply base.
Demonstrating a professional and diligent approach to problem solving and processes for change management you will represent Lear Corporation on a day to day basis of customer liaison across various projects for Jaguar Land Rover, Nissan and Ford
Logistics and Supply Chain
Overview: As a key member of the Manufacturing team you will learn all apects of materials management and movements. Using Lear's technologically advanced storage and distribution facilities, the team is responsible for moving components and materials to, from and around the Plants ensuring the smooth flow of materials to assembly and production and ensuring the right product is delivered on time to our customers.
As a supply management apprentice, you will be involved in supply chain management learning skills such as:

  • Control of the ordering and delivery of materials
  • How to manage materials
  • Stock and storage

  • Able to demonstrate a clear interest to work in the manufacturing sector
Personal qualities
  • Must have a passion for engineering.
  • A willingness to achieve the highest standards.
Qualifications required

5 GCSE's A-C/9-5, or equivalent (inc Maths English and Science/Technology or BTEC level 3 60 Credits (must be achieved by September, 2017)
As Advanced Programme plus 2 A-Levels/Equivalent (inc Maths and a Science/Technology or BTEC level 3 90 credits)
