Apprentice Health and Social Care - Level 2

Temporary for 12 months, - (with progression opportunities available for successful candidates)

Full Time (37.5 hpw)

Salary GBP4.20 to GBP7.83 per hour, depending on age (this is reflective of NMW)

So what's so great about this apprenticeship? Well, your wage will be higher than the national apprenticeship minimum wage, so start planning what to spend that extra cash on! You'll be employed for a 12 month period to get stacks of experience and launch your career! You'll start at NVQ level 2 (equivalent to a GCSE) with a possible progression to level 3 (equivalent to A-levels) and many apprentices secure a permanent role with us! Who knows where future you will end up!

About the role

You'll be working with Sophie to support a team of colleagues to help our customers successfully achieve the outcomes outlined in their own individual support plans.

You will provide customers with a 'helping hand' and assist with some tasks to develop and maintain basic life skills and live independently.

This is a learning disability service and our customers' needs vary; some have physical disabilities and need support with personal care tasks and moving and handling. Some have autism and need support with looking after their mental wellbeing. You will be involved in supporting customers with all aspects of their daily lives, whether it be shopping, going to a football match or supporting them to a GP appointment or finding voluntary work that they will really love.

We are small but perfectly formed service and team who love a good party but also love to ensure our customers are at the centre of all we do. No two days are the same and a good sense of humour is essential as, although the day to day job takes a lot of energy, we also love to laugh as we work. You will work 37.5 hours per week over a seven day rota.

Please note any offer of employment is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure check through the DBS the costs of which are met by Home Group.



Who we're looking for

Ideally you will had previous experience of providing care or support to vulnerable people and will be empathetic with a caring approach to support our customers with a range of support needs whilst maintaining boundaries. You'll have good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and basic Microsoft Office Skills but before long you'll be a real whizz! You be great at working with people as part of a team, but must be able to work independently and use your initiative. You'll be keen to learn from others how to prioritise and manage your work load, but an eye for detail is important.
