Find your future at BP

At BP, our business is diverse, and so are the types of people we employ. From engineers and geologists to IT professionals, research scientists and financial traders. Attracting and retaining the very best talent - regardless of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic - is what makes us competitive in an ever-changing business landscape.

About the opportunity
BP Shipping, the oldest continuous business unit in the BP group, has been transformed into the marine expertise arm of the BP Group. Our goal is to provide safe, efficient and environmentally-sound shipping solutions in support of the BP Group strategy. In this transformation, our Data Analytics Team plays a critical role by providing valuable insights, which can enable extraordinary change.

As an apprentice data analyst in the BP Shipping Data Analytics team, you'll collect, organise and study data to provide business insight. This will include managing data, as well as conducting a range of analytical studies.

You'll work across a great variety of projects, providing technical data solutions on stakeholder or customer issues. Furthermore, you'll document and report the results of data analysis activities, make recommendations to improve business performance and work with the management team in prioritising business and information needs.

Among your responsibilities, you'll include maintaining our data systems, acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources, and reviewing reports and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.

This is an amazing apprenticeship opportunity, funded by the Education & Skills Funding Agency, an executive agency of the Department for Education.

About you
A team player with a passion for turning data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions. You've demonstrated these skills during your studies and you're excited about building a successful career within a dynamic and well-regarded team.

You have a good understanding of data structures, database systems and procedures and the range of analytical tools used to undertake a range of different types of analysis.

To qualify for this role, you must have lived in the UK or the European Economic Area for the last 3 consecutive years. You must also have a valid passport, birth certificate or residence permit and a national insurance number.

An additional requirement is to not be undertaking any other apprenticeship at the same time.
You should also have (or be expecting) BCC at A-Level or equivalent (104 UCAS points) plus five GCSEs, grade A-C to include English and maths.

Alternatively, you may have two A-Levels (including maths), an ICT or a Level 3 Apprenticeship in a similar subject. We also accept an International Baccalaureate at Level 3 in ICT, or a BTEC extended diploma (180 credits) in ICT.

Having previous experience in data analysis is also highly desirable.
