Job summary

As our commitment to developing our workforce, we are delighted to provide Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship (TNA) programmes for aspiring candidates at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust.

We have a great opportunity to undertake this exciting two-year apprenticeship programme as a Trainee Nursing Associate, leading to a Level 5 qualification and eligibility to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Nursing Associate.

This role requires you to practice the National 6 C's of Care, Compassion, Communication, Commitment, Competence and Courage which outline the professional values, behaviours and commitment to continuously deliver a high standard of education and care to our patients.

Main duties of the job

You will be employed for the duration of the programme as a Trainee Nursing Associate and remain in a home placement for most of the time but will have a rigorous pathway of learning. The designated university will deliver the academic component of the programme and will work in collaboration with The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn to ensure that all work-based learning is delivered to a high standard. The contract will require a minimum of 30 hours per week.

You will have the opportunity to develop and maintain knowledge, skills and competencies related to the role of Nursing Associate within the service and through completion of the Nursing Associate training programme which includes working in care settings and delivery of person-centred care.

There will be academic and work based assessments which will all contribute to the learning element of this 2 year programme to demonstrate your learning and skills in practice in accordance to the NMC and apprenticeship framework. Working under the direction of registered practitioners within multidisciplinary teams you will assist in the provision of care and support the users of the service with essential care needs.

As an employee of QEHKL you will be expected to adhere to the Trust policies. In addition you will be required to adhere to the training requirements and policies as stipulated by the training provider and Institute of Apprenticeship.

About us

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King's Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.

We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.

We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.

In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as 'Good' in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).

This two year programme leads to a level 5 qualification as an NMC Registered Nursing Associate (RNA). Candidates will be employed during the period of the programme as a Trainee Nursing associate apprentice in a home base setting with regular placements and learning opportunities in other departments and healthcare settings.
