About the apprenticeship
Duties
• To promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person.
• Establish and maintain positive and trusting relationships with the young people that will promote their sense of security.
• Provide firm, consistent, and fair boundaries in respect of their behaviour and employ appropriate and agreed sanctions.
• To assist in the provision/preparation of meals at the home.
• To engage in and supervise day to day care practices, creating an accepting environment conducive to the positive personal development of each Young Person.
• To assist in the provision/preparation of meals at the home.
Requirements
Skills
• Ability to talk and listen to young people, observe and record significant behaviour.
• Ability to work with young people and follow their care plans in order to support young people's transitions to foster placement, return home, independent living or onto a long-term residential home.
• Good communication skills both written and verbal.
• Understanding the effect of race, gender, disability, culture, religion on young people.
• Ability to provide consistent and caring adult model for young people.
• Ability to provide for young person's physical needs as necessary i.e. Cooking, shopping, or to enable them to carry out such tasks independently.
• Make use of regular supervision.
• To report to line manager, or other appropriate person, malpractice or evidence that may suggest it.
• Ability to act as a team member.
Qualifications
Working towards QCF Level 3 in health and social care (Children and young people).
Language
