Lakeside Healthcare is a new type of NHS general practice which builds upon and celebrates all that is great about traditional primary care services. Lakeside Healthcare are looking to take on a Support team member Apprentice to join their friendly and experienced team. The working environment is fast paced and full training and support will be provided within the job role. Lakeside Healthcare are looking for an apprentice who is an effective communicator, can work well within a team and can take use their own initiative when required.
This is the ideal apprenticeship position for a candidate that has an interest in administration and is eager to develop new skills. Lakeside Healthcare are offering fantastic progression routes with the opportunity for the apprentice to progress to a level 3 programme and full time job if the apprenticeship period is successful.
This job role is varied and the main purpose of the job role is:
- To provide administrative, secretarial and clerical support to the Practice clinical team – including the GP Team, Nursing Team and Practice Manager.
- To ensure that administrative and clerical duties are completed within the Practice guidelines and policies.
- Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
- Facilitate effective communication between patients, members the primary health care team, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
Some of the main duties in this role are:
- Process and file any ad-hoc Out Of Hours reports on an ad-hoc basis.
- Action and complete all GP patient admin requests received by email, manual note or EMIS WEB task – including contacting the patient where appropriate to arrange any follow-up tests or appointments or liaising with other healthcare agencies to chase results or referrals or to arrange or cancel further care.
- Process patient referrals using Pathfinder and/or the NHS Choose & Book system (and the forthcoming NHS eReferral system) selecting the appropriate speciality and clinic.
- To maintain a working knowledge of the local NHS services, including the clinics and specialties available, referral criteria and requirements and the appropriate forms and/or systems to be used.
- To liaise with other healthcare services to expedite patient referrals and/or appointments and to chase and/or request repeat copies of patient results, outpatient clinic letters and or patient discharges.
