About the apprenticeship
Duties
Operate and program CNC machines and carry out changeovers
Operate and program co-ordinate measuring machines
Ensure continuous improvement activity takes place
Ensure good housekeeping and safe working practice in the area
Undertake training of G1 and G2 personnel as appropriate and liaise with training co-ordinator to develop skills of self and team
Work effectively as a member of the Machining team
Additional information
To complete a 3-4 year apprenticeship covering all aspects of Mechanical Engineering used in the manufacture of Brake components within the Cwmbran Operations Department. The apprentice will attend Technical College and follow a prescribed vocational Mechanical Engineering course with the objective of achieving minimum City & Guilds qualification.

Skills
Computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft Packages.
Good communication skills.
Demonstrate creative thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
Knowledge of safe working practices.
To have gained GCSE`s grade C or above in Maths/English/Science/Design Technology.
Be capable of attending College with a view to obtaining City & Guilds Qualification in Mechanical Engineering
