Apprentice Desktop Support Technician
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Salary: GBP14,000 with regular GBP500 increases every 6 months, based on performance and successful completion of exams, and a GBP1000 completion bonus based on same criteria
Contract: Full Time, Fixed term - 15 months
About the role:
We are looking for a Desktop Support Apprentice to maintain IT equipment and provide basic support to staff. This is a great role for anyone who has a passion for and would like to kick start their career in IT. Training is provided on all the various tools/equipment and systems needed to perform your role. Every day will bring new challenges and the chance to gain new skills and knowledge in a technical role.
This will be a Level 3 apprenticeship, and you will spend 80% of your working hours on the job and 20% will be learning. The duration is approximately 15 months and on successful completion of your apprenticeship we expect you to have gained the skills, confidence and knowledge to join the team on a permanent basis.

Key areas of responsibility:
* Receiving/Logging and managing incidents in Service Desk
* Provide basic support for Windows PCs/laptops and telephones.
* Use problem solving skills to fix IT software and hardware
* Escalating incidents to relevant 2nd Line support teams
* Deploy IT equipment to staff to provide new functionality and replace end of life items.
* Plan and implement tasks related to the provisioning of new IT equipment to staff.
* Educate staff in how to use new technologies
* Maintain and produce documentation and "How To" guides

We are looking for confident and effective communicators who have a positive outlook on life and a real enthusiasm for IT. The successful candidates will be proactive, adaptable, motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills. They will be expected to work equally as part of a team or on an individual basis, displaying solid organisational and problem-solving skills to meet tight deadlines.
Requirements and Experience:
* Grade C or above (or equivalent) at GCSE in Maths, English and a Science subject
* AS, A Levels or a BTEC useful but not essential
* Organised and efficient time management
* Strong attention to detail
* Ability to learn new software and follow processes quickly and accurately
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Demonstrated experience solving problems both individually and by recruiting help from others
* Passionate about IT and our industry
