Job summary

Independent Health Group is a small but expanding organisation that provides day case surgery in the community. We pride ourselves on providing high quality, patient centred care. Following previous successful apprenticeships, we are again working with Wiltshire College & University Centre to offer a Level 3 apprenticeship in Business Administration. We are hoping that the apprenticeship will lead to a full-time permanent role for the right candidate who is interested in progressing their career within a healthcare setting.

The apprenticeship is based in our friendly Patient Administration team at our Head Office in Bath Business Park, Peasedown St.John, just outside Bath.

We believe that happy colleagues deliver better care and to this end we encourage a supportive and friendly team atmosphere. We strive to create an inclusive environment which nurtures the well-being of our employees whilst providing opportunities for development and progression.

You will have your own desk in a modern, airy office with free parking. Full on the job training will be provided.

Our staff benefits include:

  • Working in a modern office building
  • Free parking
  • Additional days leave for birthday (weekdays only)
  • Full on-the-job training & regular 1 to 1s to support staff
  • Private pension scheme

Main duties of the job

The Patient Pathway Co-Ordinator role is a diverse role that is responsible for providing patients with the best possible administration journey from initial referral through to discharge back to the referring GP.

As part of your apprenticeship we will support you with learning the skills needed to undertake the role and wont expect you to do everything from the start! You will be highly supported by our very friendly team and will be given a regular 1 to 1 meeting with the team leader, so that we can talk through any issues and monitor your growth and development in the role. You will need to be friendly and approachable with a good standard of English and basic computer skills.

About us

Independent Health Group was set up in 2004 by Dr Matthew Wordsworth with the aim of offering patients the choice of being treated out of hospital, closer to home. Matt wanted to create a new health care organisation in which like-minded health care professionals could deliver truly patient centred care. Our aim was to be a leading provider of community-based diagnostic and treatment services of the highest quality, where patients always come first .

Since 2004 we have grown the range of services we offer, and the sites we work from, but we still believe that Independent Health Group offers you an opportunity to make a real difference to patients care and treatment.

We work in a different kind of environment to that of an acute hospital setting. Our patients see the same clinician and are offered specific appointment times.

We offer our staff an innovative, alternative way to delivering health care. Our staff work within small teams with plenty of time for patient contact. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of a fantastic organisation, as well as the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a health care setting.

For further information about this role, or an informal discussion, please contact Karen Dixon, Patient Admin Lead, at karen.dixon7@nhs.net. Alternatively, if you would like to apply via CV, please send it to inhg.hr@nhs.net with a cover letter explaining why you feel you would be suitable for this role.
