What you will do in your working day
  • The Software Tester will assist in the creation and maintenance of the required project test strategies
  • Accurately estimate and plan all assigned testing tasks and activities
  • Schedule and deliver all tasks and activities within the agreed timescales and according to priority
  • Specify, build and maintain all test environments
  • To perform the required software testing both on and offsite where required
  • To develop automated test scripts
  • To identify, characterise and report all software issues
  • To accurately report the status and progress of testing and the performance and usability of the software
  • Participate and contribute to test reviews and defect reviews

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 4 Software Tester, with training in how to:
  • Ensure that the software used within your business operates as intended
  • Design and prepare test plans and conduct software testing as appropriate to ensure your software is fit for purpose
  • Collect and interpret the results of testing and make appropriate recommendations
  • Understand the software lifecycle and apply software development practices
  • Document and report test results
  • Store, manage and share test data in a secure manner
