Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
As an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor you will work across Carillion Services assisting a team carrying out a range of duties relating to Commercial Management. You will be supported by an experienced senior mentor who will assist you to manage project or contract costs from the design stage through to completion, closely monitoring each stage to make sure that it is delivered within the overall budget. Upon completion of your training you will be a qualified Quantity Surveyor with 5 years of experience and will be responsible for overseeing the legal and commercial requirements of a Contract.
Assisting the Commercial Manager within a project ensuring:
- Preparation of accurate and prudent cost /value analysis
- Accurate budget preparation
- Preparation of interim and final account measurement
- Accurate pricing and rating of variations
- Interim and final agreement of suppliers' and sub-contractors' accounts.
- Good quality and accurate records are kept and maintained
- Maintenance of cost information
- Preparation and agreement of sundry accounts

For standard entry applicants, must have obtained 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 Tariff) or 230 UCAS tariff points (2016 Tariff) or have an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS Tariff
Have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction Technical through which a Construction and Built Environment Diploma with a minimum DD profile was obtained or through which a Construction and Built Environment Extended Diploma with a minimum MMM profile was obtained, or an equivalent qualification
Have a current RICS Associate qualification (AssocRICS)
Have GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics (Grade 4 for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics as defined by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.
*Recognised qualifications having an equivalent level of attainment as those recognised by UCAS include: Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), professional qualifications from recognised institutions, certain armed forces qualifications and partially completed degrees.Future prospects Upon completion of the BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying and the structured workplace learning you will undertake the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence leading to registration with the RICS as a Chartered Surveyor. Things to consider Driving license not essential but preferable. Able to work in the UK. Requirement to travel. Site visits and computer based work is balanced. From 1st October 2016 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.40 per hour. From April 2017 this rises to £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
