We are looking for a well-organised, enthusiastic and highly motivated person to join our team as an apprentice assistant practitioner working with and supporting podiatrists. You will work alongside podiatry team colleagues whilst you train to become an assistant practitioner.

This apprenticeship will run in conjunction with University Centre South Devon and will require you to study whilst working in the service.

On completion of the apprenticeship you will gain a Foundation Degree, Higher Apprenticeship and Higher Technical Qualification.

Year 1 - Band 2 salary

Year 2 - Band 3 salary

On completion of the Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree apprenticeship, assistant practitioners are qualified to work at a Band 4 level in the NHS and have a more in-depth understanding about factors that influence podiatric conditions and recovery.

Main duties of the job

Apprentices will be workplace based for four days (30 hours) per week and 1 day (7.5 hours) will be protected study time.

Attendance of training delivered as e-learning and face to face with the associated HEI is essential and annual leave must be arranged outside these sessions.

The post-holder will fulfil all tasks and work as part of a team responsible for providing high quality, safe and compassionate care.

To meet the needs of the service, the post holder may be required to work in other areas as appropriate, as directed by the line manager.

Applicants need to be a good team player with exceptional interpersonal skills. The jobs will be based in one of our hubs: Taunton, Bridgwater or Yeovil with travel to other sites.

A full UK driving licence with the ability and willingness to travel across sites trustwide is essential for the role. Once qualified as an assistant practitioner, you will be required to work independently and as part of a team.

High standards of treatment and professionalism, and adherence to policies and procedures is essential.

We offer comprehensive training in all areas of podiatry and work closely with our partner HEI's to provide a supportive training environment.

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.
