What you will do in your working day

The Engineering Higher Apprenticeship is a 3-year scheme during which you will spend time in a number of different placements within the business where you will undertake a range of engineering activities and be exposed to different aspects the project lifecycle.

You will attend college during the first 2 years on a day release programme to complete the Higher National Certificate (HNC).

During the first 6 months of the apprenticeship you will spend time in Portsmouth Naval Base's Skills and Development Centre where you will develop your practical engineering skills.

At the end of the 3 years, you will be required to complete and pass an End Point Assessment which confirms you have gained the required knowledge, skills and behaviours of the apprenticeship.

The training you will be getting
  • Level 4 Apprenticeship Certificate (Engineering Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Standard)
  • Higher National Certificate in Engineering
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English (If not previously achieved)
