What you will do in your working day

Environmental Engineering apprentices work with our experienced professionals to test our products and ensure that they can withstand the environments for where they will be used.

You'll witness, control and apply extreme climatic and mechanical environments, from simulating the extreme cold of artic conditions to the incredible temperatures induced by supersonic flight. From combined complex low pressure, high humidity and low temperature environments to multiple system 3D vibration simulation.

You'll work in the following areas during your apprenticeship:
  • Mechanical and Climatic Test
  • Structural test
  • Facility maintenance
  • Trials and Data Analysis
  • Mechanical and Climatic Project

The training you will be getting

Our Mechanical Engineering degree apprenticeship within Environmental Engineering and Facilities is a 4 year course where you will study towards a fully funded BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering degree. You will study one day a week at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield.

Study on this programme will be a blend of virtual and face to face.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Through regular one to ones, development plans and the use of Mentors, you will have the opportunity to shape your career within the organisation. We have many senior members in the organisation that started life as an MBDA apprentice.
