What you will do in your working day

Our apprenticeships are designed to give you an insight into a wide variety of areas of work and the chance to explore where your skills and interests lie. Through a combination of on-the-job learning and practical skills development, you'll work on real projects from day one that offer scale and variety, collaborating with others and creating a meaningful impact on the world around us. You'll work towards your professional qualification; whichever path you take, your future starts here.

You'll be making a sustainable difference in people's lives, shaping cities, reimagining transport and transforming nuclear energy. And with the opportunity to work across Aerospace, Defence, Security & Technology (ADS&T), Cities & Development, Nuclear & Power, Transportation, Water or Environment, you'll decide where you want your career to go.

Here's what your role as an apprentice will involve:
  • Developing your skills in a wide range of exciting projects
  • Learning and using relevant design software
  • Being involved in client meetings and assisting in building key client relationships
  • You'll get to understand and learn digital skills, to help us harness technology in new ways
  • Your mentors will support you as you study towards nationally recognised qualifications and accreditation
  • You'll have dedicated time to spend at college or university to focus on your studies

The training you will be getting
  • Our BEng Electromechanical Engineering Degree Apprenticeship is a full Warwick degree, studied over five years through on-campus face-to-face teaching and virtual learning experiences, with our teaching and assessment having blended and integrated work-based learning throughout
  • On-campus teaching takes place during six, one-week blocks, delivered by Warwick academic staff with collaborative teaching support from employers
  • You'll cover the foundations of engineering and electromechanical engineering in the first two years of the course. In the third and fourth years, you'll focus on systems design, including a group project design module, and in the final year you will be required to carry out an individual electromechanical engineering project within the organisation, to apply the knowledge and skills gained over the duration of the programme and create a real-life engineering solution
  • Apprentices without level 2 English and maths will need to achieve this level prior to taking the End-Point Assessment

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

This standard aligns with the following professional recognition:
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) for IMechE
  • Incorporated Engineer (IEng) for Royal Aeronautical Society
