Intequal, in partnership with the Microsoft Apprenticeship Programme, are offering this exciting opportunity to embark on a career as a 1st Line Service Desk Apprentice.

Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will receive Microsoft training and accreditation through online learning and practical experience. These qualifications are highly respected and sought after and the skills, knowledge and experience you will gain whilst on the programme are invaluable, giving you the best possible chance at starting your professional career in the industry.

The company require a proactive individual with an aptitude for communication and interest in Microsoft infrastructure technologies such as Windows and the ability to understand when/how to escalate and triage incidents and requests.

Quickly assimilating new technologies, being able to apply what is learnt and showing a genuine enthusiasm for the technology are critical to this position's success.

This role will initially be involved in forming part of the level 1 team on the Service Desk, remotely supporting a wide number of customers via the telephone and remote management by issuing tickets, prioritizing and escalating cases, liaising with third parties and clients and offering excellent and prompt customer service whilst representing the company in a professional and courteous manner.

As a Microsoft IT Apprentice you will be required to ensure the smooth running of computer systems and ensuring users get maximum benefits from them. Individual tasks vary depending on the size and structure of the customer, and includes the following (this is not an exhaustive list):

  • Delivering exceptional customer service remotely.
  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications.
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
  • Talking the customer through a series of actions over the telephone, to help set up systems or resolve issues.
  • Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software.

You will be working in a company that specializes in servicing a vast array of customers in the South of England with their IT needs.

Requirements and prospects Desired skills

You will have excellent customer service and communication skills.

Personal qualities

An interest in IT and a willingness to learn is mandatory!

Qualifications required

To be considered for this role, you must have at least a C grade in both GCSE Maths & English, and in three or four other subjects at least. Having completed a level 3 IT apprenticeship would be beneficial.

Future prospects There is the possibility of progression to a level 1 Rapid Response team as a permanent member of staff, then further progression to level 2 or movement into another team.
