Who you'll work for:

Based in Cheshire, you'll be both working alongside and learning from colleagues who have over 10 years' experience in software development. Experts in the full project life cycle: software design and development, business analysis, project management and quality assurance. Their experienced consultants hold certifications in a range of technologies and methodologies, ensuring an excellent level of service and team to learn from. As an Apprentice Developer, you will be working for a Microsoft Silver Partner creating new systems for the construction industry. The majority of your time will be spent developing new systems or new features for existing systems. The role will also encompass the software lifecycle including design through to support.

Additional responsibilities will include:
  • To work towards successfully completing the National Apprenticeship Level 4 — Software Developer
  • Contributing to the production of innovative design against challenging user and performance requirements
  • To learn the technical languages most commonly used and demonstration your understanding and its practical application.
  • Contribute towards the Implementation of approved designs
  • Ensuring all code is fully unit tested and documented
  • Regularly collaborate with team members on detailed work breakdown
  • Timely identification and communication of technical issues and risks
  • Working with the companies adaptive development methodology to deliver systems that exceed customer expectations and achieve the highest quality
  • Reporting progress to your Team Lead/Mentor.

As an Apprentice who will be receiving full training as an integral part of their role, our core focus will be less on your current IT skills and more on your ability to demonstrate a passion and basic knowledge of software development. You'll be able communicate effectively and confidently at all levels by; telephone, face-to-face and writing. You will take a methodical and logical approach to problem solving diagnosing and resolution. You'll be an excellent team player with a drive to continuously learn and develop showing flexibility to work with different people on different projects.

Qualifications required
  • At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C or above including Maths, English and either IT or Science.
  • Ideally, you will have either a minimum of two A levels (or equivalent) a Level 3 Apprenticeship qualification or Level 3 BTEC
Future prospects By working hard and demonstrating your ability, drive and commitment throughout your 16-24 month apprenticeship scheme, upon completion you will be offered a permanent contract ensuring you have further opportunities to continue growing within this exciting organisation.

Things to consider The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
