Vacancy Description

Kennington CE Academy is looking for an apprentice teaching assistant to join their friendly team.

The position will be class-based and the successful candidate would learn how to support children within a classroom setting as well as working well as part of a team.  There will also be some lunchtime supervision.  The position will include:

Supporting individuals and groups in whole class activities and helping children who may have misconceptions with their learning

Working in liaison with teachers to support the emotional, social and behavioural needs of children

Preparation of learning resources in liaison with teachers

Assisting in the creation of effective displays.

All candidates should have a good standard of spoken and written English and mathematics. They should be good and effective communicators with children and adults, friendly and approachable, flexible and adaptable, with good time management skills.

Responsibilities

This is a busy role which will give you great experience in the classroom.  Tasks will include, but are not limited to the following:

Supporting children’s learning on a 1:1 basis as well as a group

Assisting with general administration tasks, including photocopying and preparation of class materials.

Work with the class teacher and classroom assistants.

 

Wage

£136.50 per week, £3.90 per hour

 

Hours

35 working hours per week / 44 weeks of the year

Monday – Friday 08:30 – 16:30 (includes a one hour, unpaid lunch break each day)

 

Skills Required

The successful candidate should have a good communication skills, be well organised, and have basic computer skills.

 

Personal Qualities

We are looking for somebody who is keen to help children learn and who is cheerful and polite

 

Qualifications Required

Minimum GCSE grade C / 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths

 

Training Provided

On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
