Employer Description
The Hope Tree is a counselling and consultancy support service that works in schools and in the community offering therapeutic support to children and young people. It also runs a holiday programme for Children and their parents and organises seminars and workshops in the community on social and well-being issues.


Description of Vacancy 
The Hope tree is looking for a business administrator to support its work in office related support and in the community when required – this will involve basic bookkeeping, liaising with schools and community groups to promote and market the work of the Hope Tree. Attending network meetings with the director to promote the business and working to organise and be involved in Parent and child activity days and seminar programmes which takes place throughout the year. Additional training throughout the year to enhance skills as necessary.

Tasks will include:

Basic accounting spreadsheet entries- sending out invoices and chasing up late invoices 
Setting up of basic filing systems- for counselling and resources. 
Help with fundraising and marketing of counselling and activity days programme. 
Helping with running of Parent and Child activity booking venues-during half term holidays this will involve being part of the team running the events 
Keeping Database- for activity days mailings 
Contacting schools- to follow up queries Help with formulating forms for counselling reviews for schools and individuals 
Sending out invites and follow up for workshops/seminars 
Attending network meeting and events with director to promote business as and when appropriate. 
Opportunity to shadow counselling director to meetings in schools.


Wage
£3.90 per hour


Hours
Monday – Friday 30 hours a week paid
9am – 5pm
1hr unpaid lunch


Skills Required
IT literate, knowledge of Excel and spreadsheets. 
Well organised Accounting and Maths skills 
Good literacy, telephone skills, and people skills in general 
Willingness to learn about fundraising and funding.


Personal Qualities
Good communicator, able to work well with people 
Good time keeper 
Able to use own initiative. 
Interest in children & young people


Qualifications Required
A*-D Maths and English (or equivalent) desirable or vocational subjects such as social care.


Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
 

Additional Details
As of 1st April 2018, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
