We have a new and exciting apprenticeship opportunity within our Communications and Engagement Team.

In this role you will be responsible for:
  • Supporting the team to deliver the best possible outcomes for our communities through championing community engagement and ensure it is 'hard wired' into council decision making
  • Helping the team with media and campaigns activity that inform, change behaviour and encourage audiences to work more closely with the council
  • Schedule content on our digital channels, deliver internal communications activities and include supporting the press office function of the team by responding to media enquiries and generating proactive news content

A key part of the role is to build networks and relationships with teams across council, residents, communities and other external partners to develop and deliver communications and engagement. You will have the ability to work independently on key projects and priorities.

Desired qualifications

Hold a GCSE level C/equivalent in maths and English and be able to present original qualification certificates - if you do not hold these qualifications/certificates you must be committed to complete these via functional skills assessments as part of the apprenticeship.

Future prospects

On successful completion of the apprenticeship there is the potential for the apprentice to apply for a permanent role within the Council.

Things to consider

From 1st April 2019 The National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.

Applicants can only apply for an apprenticeship unrelated to any qualifications they hold at the same or higher level than the apprenticeship they wish to apply for. The apprenticeship being applied for must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualification already held.

Not be enrolled on another funded apprenticeship or another funded further education or higher education programme at the time you start your new apprenticeship.

Have the right to work and study in England and be one of the following:

A citizen of a country within the European Economic Area (EEA) or have the right to abode in the UK and have been resident in the EEA for at least the previous three years on the first day of your apprenticeship.

A non-EEA citizen with permission from the UK government to live in the UK, (not for educational purposes) and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of learning.
