Key Responsibilities:
  • Report writing and presentations
  • Managing client and stakeholder relationships
  • Monitoring and reporting against financial budgets and performance indicators
  • Researching, analysing and interpreting data
  • Understanding the implications of recommendations emerging from new cross-government policies
  • Establishing strong working relationships across teams and organisations
  • Support the team to maintaining an overview of operational performance & customer satisfaction

The Office of Government Property includes a range of programme teams and there will be opportunities for the apprentice to work with across a number of programmes to expand their experience and development.

Desired skills

  • Speak and write clearly, communicate appropriately through a variety of channels and platforms
  • Work effectively within a group environment made up of different personality types
  • Manage time effectively and prioritise workloads. Take time to reflect on project successes and learn from failure
  • Be able to assist in the creation of reports, Word processed documents, spreadsheets and slide decks for presentations

Personal qualities

  • Be open minded and able to work with a range of different people
  • Be flexible in the way you work depending on the needs of the project
  • Act upon feedback, reflect on performance and have a desire for learning
  • Be tactful and discreet with sensitive information and protect confidentiality

Desired qualifications

Candidates will usually have level 2 maths and English (equivalents to GCSE grade C/4 andabove).

Future prospects

Upon completion of the programme, an apprentice might specialise or remain more of a generalist. The skills that are developed often lead to employment in central government or in a wider business field.

The Cabinet Office is a large organisation and the breadth of both the Business Analyst and Finance qualifications mean there are many opportunities to progress, both in the Cabinet Office and across the wider government space.
