Alongside your learning you will assist the day to day management of the centre. You will be responsible for the health and safety of the students and customers using the centre, managing the Leisure Assistant team when on shift as well as the smooth operation of the centre. Throughout the apprenticeship you will be able to develop your management skills and take an active role in certain projects within the Sports Centre.

Initially you will have the opportunity to work within every section of the Sports Centre and apply the knowledge you have learned throughout your course. After the first year, you will have the opportunity to get involved with projects or areas of the business that you have a passion for.

As well as the business side of Radley Sports Centre all managers are required to run the centre on a day to day basis. This will include lifeguarding, dealing with customers, first aid cover, handling money and site maintenance.

Throughout your apprenticeship you will have the opportunity to work with the whole team in a range of different departments of The Sports Centre. You will also have a mentor you will work closely with to help guide you through your personalised training plan.

Desired qualifications

Five passes at GCSE (grades 9-4/A-C) or O-Level (grades A-C), including maths and English Language (or equivalents).

Plus, one of the following:

a minimum of two A Level (grades A - C)

OR

a 6-unit Vocational A Level.

OR

a National Certificate or Diploma or other equivalent qualification, such as GNVQ/NVQ or other Level 3 vocational qualification

This role may become permanent for the right candidate, with lots of potential for future career progression, personal development opportunities and further training.

Things to consider

Working on a 4-week rota this role involves shift work between 6am and 10:30pm plus 1 weekend per month. If relying on public transport it may be difficult for all our shift times.

Lifeguarding and first aid cover is a key part of the role so completion of a NPLQ course is essential (training will be provided).
