Desired qualifications

Apprenticeship candidates will typically have at least three A levels at Grades A*-C including Mathematics and Physical Science (Either Physics or Chemistry) or will have completed aBTEC National Diploma in a relevant field for the degree.

Candidates are also required to start the programme holding a L2 maths and English qualification (GSCE grade A*- C / new tariff grade 4 or above), which is compulsory within the apprenticeship requirements.

Future prospects

The apprenticeship will run over a 5-year period during which you will undertake a supervised programme of training and college day release. Following the completion of the degree there is the opportunity to continue learning on the job before applying to achieve Chartered Engineer status with the Institution of Civil Engineers and/or the Institution of Structural Engineers.

Things to consider

Whilst the minimum entry requirements for the London South Bank are given above, the work at SD Structures is technically challenging. As such the ideal candidate will hold maths, science and English GCSEs and A levels at grade B or above (or equivalent).
