We are looking for candidates to join our Manufacturing Engineer Apprenticeship scheme.The scheme includes the first-year off-site training at Birmingham Met College during which you will work towards your Practical Foundation Engineering Skills, and also commence your Foundation Degree in Manufacturing Engineering (FDeng) (Some Level 3 BTEC Units May be required in year one to bridge Knowledge to Foundation Degree). When you return to the company you will begin your competence development element in Manufacturing Engineering this will involve placements throughout our state-of-the-art facility, these skills will include:
  • Manufacturing Systems or Electrical Engineering
  • Working in various areas within the business
  • Production
  • Quality control
  • Design and project support

All of which will help you understand the contribution these areas make to the overall success of the business. This will help you identify a position within the organisation that suits your skills set. Insecond and third year, you will attend college on a day release basic to complete your foundation degree. In yearsfour and five you will attend Birmingham City University to undertake "Top Up" Units towards your Manufacturing Engineering Degree - BEng (Hons)

You will be given full support to achieve your career targets and aspirations.

Desired qualifications

5 GCSE's (or equivalent) at Grade C / 5-9 or above, including mathematics (Higher Paper, English and a science, technology or engineering related subject, as well as A Levels at grade C or above in both a mathematical based subject and a science, technology, engineering or additional mathematics related subject, or 90+ credits in an engineering BTEC at level 3.

You may also wish to include any relevant extra-curricular activities that may support your application.

Future prospects

We anticipate that our apprentices will progress to permanent employment within the company.On successful completion of the apprenticeship programme, you may be offered an engineering status level role.Opportunities will exist in all engineering areas of the business, from production to technical support. We will also consider supporting to degree level of education, in an engineering related field.

Things to consider

  • Workwear will be provided with full PPE when the Apprentices work on site
  • 33 days' holiday per year, including bank holidays (when on site)
