Are you interested in helping to produce water or electricity, process fuel and gas around the country, make chocolate, tea or flour and even help people fly away on holiday? This exciting opportunity for a 3-year apprenticeship scheme will help you gain the skills needed to develop application software to control the automation of a variety of industries. You'll learn to interpret client specifications, devise innovative solutions & and conduct tests to confirm performance.
  • As a Cougar Engineers engineer, we'll help you learn to use specialist software (Rockwell/Siemens/Schneider/etc) to design industrial control systems. You will be given a laptop with the appropriate design software platforms
  • We deliver solutions to our customers based upon their requirements. You will be learning and gaining levels of engineering skill and knowledge that will eventually see you performing as a key part of a project engineering team. Before starting on client projects, you'll work towards achieving all of the competencies needed to become a Control Systems Engineer
  • You'll learn how to use custom and proprietary software to monitor process parameters, such aslevels, pressure, temperature and flow to control things like pumps, conveyors and valves as part of theproject. Additionally you'll also help with other verification activities, include testing hardware in non-operational locations to confirm performance and response times
  • The role will includelearning to correctly interpret technical information and specify suitable equipment to form part of an overall solution

Desired qualifications

  • You must hold a L3 engineering BTEC (or equivalent) qualification that meets the requirements of the Engineering Manufacture Advanced Apprenticeship Framework (Pathway 8 - Engineering Technical Support)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent (inc. maths, English, Science - preferably Physics) at Grade C or above
