We have a great opportunity to join us on an apprenticeship basis to become a Software Engineer within the Insurance side of our business. This is a fantastic way to learn 'on the job' in a supportive and encouraging environment whilst earning a qualification at the same time. We are a big sociable team and in role you will gain exposure to the following programming languages: C#, MVC, HTML, CSS, SQL, ASP.NET, Web API, JavaScript, Bootstrap, TFS/VSTS and you will be involved in projects from Foundations through to the release into Production.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
  • Develop solutions to the required quality, design, coding, performance and security standards, in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Test solutions thoroughly and prioritise the use of automated testing standards and techniques
  • Ensure quality and continuous improvement through design and code reviews
  • Provide technical analysis of user requirements to facilitate accurate story estimation
  • Work closely with colleagues to share knowledge and ensure the continuous growth of our community-oriented environment
  • Understand the impact of unplanned work such as defects and rework and take appropriate measures to reduce this wherever possible
  • Provide clear and accurate Root Cause Analysis on all resolved system bugs.


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

An ability to code in HTML, C#, CSS or SQL would be advantageous

You will need to have, or be expected to achieve:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and can adapt your style to meet the needs of your audience
  • The ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
  • A passion and willingness to learn


Desired qualifications

5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above to include maths and English
