Duties include:
  • Develop and implement new software components
  • Maintain and improve the performance of existing software
  • Clearly and regularly communicate with management and technical support colleagues
  • Design and update databases
  • Test and maintain software products to ensure strong functionality and optimisation
  • Recommend improvements to existing software components as necessary
  • Design - to be capable of designing simple data models and software designs to ensure customer needs are met in a safe but efficient manner
  • Effectively communicate understanding of the program, following best practices and standards
  • Development Lifecycle - to have the ability to operate at all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • C# Logic - to be capable of writing good quality code (logic) with sound syntax in C#
  • User Interface - to be capable developing develop effective interfaces for channels
  • Data - to be able to link code to databases and datasets effectively
  • Test - to be able to test code and analyse results to correct errors
  • Developing the integrity of business applications, analysis, project planningdevelopment, testing and implementation of software solutions
  • NATS are looking for an individual who will be able to fulfil the position of Apprentice Software Developer by the end of the apprenticeship

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Experience of developing software. This could be through education or general personal interest
  • The ideal candidate will be already experimenting with Python/Perl/PHP/C++/T-SQL technologies
  • Previous experience either through education or general interest of computer user interface design/graphical design skills or web design is desirable
  • Good written communication skills
  • Excellent organisational and detail analysis skills

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSE Grades C-A (4-9) or equivalent
  • Level 3 apprenticeship in 'Software Developer Technician or equivalent
