Spadework is a charity based on a five acre site at Offham, near West Malling, providing life skills training for adults with learning, and other, disabilities.
On site there is a Garden Centre, Farm Shop and Café which are all open to the public seven days a week.
The adults we work with are involved in all aspects of Spadework. They work in different types of horticulture production including fruit, vegetables, bedding and perennial plants and also help to look after the grounds. There is also the opportunity to take part in Woodwork, IT and Craft activities as well as helping in the Café, Farm Shop or Garden Centre.

We are seeking to appoint a confident, motivated and enthusiastic Administration Apprentice to provide day to day administration support as required.
Tasks will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Answering internal and external calls.
Greeting visitors to the site.
Assist with ordering office supplies, items of uniform, cleaning materials etc
Build and maintain relationships with outside agencies to request maintenance and repairs of office equipment, tools, machinery etc.
Help with the creation and distribution of newsletters, general staff/ volunteer/ trainee information updates.
Assist with updating Spadework’s social media platforms.
Assist with Spadework’s recruitment process; monitoring job applications, requesting references and monitoring responses, creating personnel files, monitoring expiry dates of mandatory documents/ training.
Help to coordinate Spadework log delivery service. General office administration duties e.g.
Dealing with incoming/ outgoing post, photocopying, filing, archiving, printing documents, maintaining hard copy and electronic files.

£156 per week
£3.90 per hour
Hours
Monday through to Friday 08.00 – 16.30 with a half hour unpaid lunch break.
We are aware our location is a little remote so would consider a later start time for the right candidate
Skills Required
Computer literate
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritise workload

Demonstrates a willingness to learn
Ability to remain calm under pressure
Qualifications Required
A* – D GCSE Grades, or equivalent, in English and Maths as a minimum
Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Standard – consisting of the NVQ Business Administration, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.
Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.
A specialise in high quality work-based training, delivered by qualified staff with personal experience of working in the skill area they teach.
Additional Detail
As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.
The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
