Responsibilities of the IT Technical Apprentice:

Work in conjunction with the ICT Manager and the IT support team and Blue Logic.

Work alongside the ICT Manager and support team on our telephony, servers, infrastructure, to ensure they meet the needs of the organisation, both at our hospice site in Boston Spa and at our 12 retail sites across North, East and West Yorkshire.

Assisting the IT team handling the helpdesk calls from users by ticketing and assisting with day to day issues.

Our joint training programme with Blue Logic is designed to ensure you learn a range of different systems using the latest IT Technologies to gain the skills needed to become a highly skilled IT Apprentice.

Apprentices will blend on-the-job working, face-to-face workshops and online learning which will teach a range of new skills including: Networking and Infrastructure, Mobile working and Operating Systems, Cloud Services, IT Security, Problem Solving and Business Processes.

Assisting Blue Logic and our ICT team to undertake any major projects at the hospice including planning and implementation.

Participate in regular team meetings.

Working with staff, volunteers, children and families equipment to help resolve issues

Someone with ideally 5 GCSE grades (C and above) or equivalent, including Maths and English

Future prospects 92% of QA Apprentices secure permanent employment after finishing their apprenticeship. Additionally there may be opportunities to undertake further apprenticeship training as many of our programmes offer on-going development tracks.

Other Information: Currently seeking a highly motivated individual to assist in our ICT (Information & Communication Technology) team providing front line support to our staff team, families and children. You will also be working with our IT support company Blue Logic (2 days a week). We have a small, very active ICT team that look after 20 servers and 100 desktop and laptop work stations. We also run wired and wireless networks. The apprentice will spend time working three days a week at Martin's House: • Support - Answering incoming calls and logging them into the helpdesk system. • With training, they will be Assisting staff, volunteers and families with issues on desktop, laptops and mobile devices. • Configuring new devices and setting them up on the network including use of active directory and Windows 10 operating system. • Helping staff with other software issues (Sage, ThankQ, TabsFM, Mstore, Sharepoint) The apprentice will spend two days a week with Blue Logic: • Support - answering incoming calls and log them onto the helpdesk system adding progress notes also. With training answer technical issues and resolve queries. • Commissioning - Installing operating systems onto PCs and carrying out basic configurations on PCs and desktops • Installation - Assisting Engineers on client's sites with Hardware and PC's. • This role also provides in-house training and the possibility of ongoing training if a permanent position is offered. The Apprenticeship National Minimum Wage (ANMW): From April 2017 the ANMW was set at £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
