The successful candidate will need to have a good general understanding of ITbe aware of modern web development technologies and trends and be keen to learn and to progress towards a career in web development.

This is a rare opportunity to train and earn in a family-run business that is experience strong growth.

If accepted, Vizulate would help train the successful candidate to become a full-time Web Developer. Because we are a small busy business you will have the opportunity to gain exposure to a wide range of development activities.

Although experience or qualifications in development are not essential, some basic level of web development exposure would be beneficial to reflect your interest.

Continued learning and personal development will be strong aspects of this role and as such you will need to be eager and willing to learn new skills both in and out of work time.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
  • Installation of new websites
  • Maintenance and monitoring of existing websites
  • Management of website hosting/domains/DNS/managing backups across our range of hosting solutions
  • Communicating with website servers via FTP
  • Website testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing
  • Learning to work with the WordPress CMS, adding content through the admin.
  • Working on E-commerce platforms
  • Building websites using a combination of visual building tools in WordPress themes.
  • Dealing with the support and error reporting from clients, ensuring they are dealt with in a timely and effective manner
  • Building new features and functionality on our existing customer and company websites.
  • Learning to understand the full development life-cycle from project brief to go-live.
  • Communicating internally & externally via face to face, email & telephone as required.
  • Taking part in internal team and external client meetings

There will be the opportunity to:

  • Learn & adhere to industry best practice in web design & development, Security & Data & SEO


Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Has an interest in coding and/or examples of extra-curricular web work
  • Has a keen interest and passion in digital, online services and web technology and a willingness to learn & grow as the industry & technology changes
  • Has good organisation skills
  • Has ambition & strong work ethic
  • Is reliable and dependable
  • Has good IT skills
  • Has experience using Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Has good communication skills, writing skills and people skills
  • Has the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Can work under pressure to meet agreed deadlines
  • Has some knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript or PHP - but this is not essential


Personal qualities

As this is a apprentice position, character, attitude and willingness to learn is more important than previous experience or desirable skills listed here, although any prior experience would be a big plus.

Desired qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (C) and/or A levels (or equivalent) in English, maths, Computer Science, IT or Software

For the candidate that excels and shows true commitment, you will be offered a full time role the end of your apprenticeship. There is every opportunity to progress to a more senior role at Vizulate Digital. We'd also look to increase your salary quickly, should you demonstrate significant progression.
