  • Requirements and prospects Desired skills
    • Basic knowledge of Quantity Surveying practice would be an advantage but not essential.
    • Understanding of domestic construction, specifications, standards and legislation would be an advantage but not essential.
    • Must be capable of measuring quantities from drawings or from physical measurements taken on site, including physical measurements at heights e.g. roof coverings to 2-storey buildings
    • Must be able to present information in a clear and organised way.
    • Must have good numerical skills
    • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications e.g. Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Must have a current, clean full driving licence within 6 months of appointment

    Qualifications required

    • 5 GCSE grade C or Grade 4 or higher including mathematics and English Language or equivalent qualifications
    • Commitment to obtain a degree in Quantity Surveying within 5 years of commencing the role at the Trust.
    Future prospects At the end of the 5 year contract there may be an opportunity to apply for the post of Graduate Quantity Surveyor which may replace the Trainee Quantity Surveyor role. This position is not guaranteed, however. Things to consider The role involves travelling to different sites in and around the Cheshire area on a daily basis. A valid driver's licence is essential as the role will involve visiting construction sites throughout the Cheshire area. What are your thoughts on this? Please talk me through your aspirations for the future. The current National Minimum Wage for an apprentice is £3.50 an hour. This rate applies to apprentices under 19 and those aged 19 or over who are in their first year. Apprentices must be paid at least the minimum wage rate for their age if they are aged 19 or over and have completed their first year. The minimum wage rates are £5.60 an hour for 18-20 year olds and £7.05 for anyone aged 21 and over. Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week).
