We undertake all aspects of commercial building surveying and some residential services (but not home buyers reports nor valuations).We will be able to provide a broad range of exposure to both building surveying and general practice surveying.The experience and training offered will enable the successful candidate to complete their degree and go on to become a chartered surveyor.

The typical workload we generate includes repairs and maintenance, alterations and improvements, party wall surveying, advising on dilapidations disputes and some new build / development.

In addition, the candidate will be expected to provide some support to the general practice surveyors and to the smooth running of the office.

Initially, work away from the office will be with another surveyor, building up to undertaking inspections independently. Similarly, help will always be on hand for work undertaken in the office

Desired skills

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong attention to detail and ability to use a wide range of technology including Outlook, Word and Excel.A full driving licence would also be an advantage.

Personal qualities

We are looking for a well presented, motivated and articulate person to join our supportive team of surveyors. You will have a strong interest in commercial property and construction and be committed to becoming a chartered surveyor.

Desired qualifications

For standard entry applicants, must have obtained 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 Tariff) or 230 UCAS tariff points (2016 Tariff) or have an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS Tariff

Or,

Have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction Technical through which a Construction and Built Environment Diploma with a minimum DD profile was obtained or through which a Construction and Built Environment Extended Diploma with a minimum MMM profile was obtained, or an equivalent qualification

Or,

Have a current RICS Associate qualification (AssocRICS)

And,

Have GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics (Grade 4 for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics as defined by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.

*Recognised qualifications having an equivalent level of attainment as those recognised by UCAS include: Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), professional qualifications from recognised institutions, certain armed forces qualifications and partially completed degrees.

Future prospects

Gain Chartered Surveyor Status.
