Position Description
The Role

Want to earn while you learn?

At CGI we're offering you a unique opportunity to be part of something exciting and earn while you learn on our Higher Apprenticeships. We're a company that each day enables the transfer of GBP3 trillion, protects against 43 million cyber-attacks, drives two thirds of the world's SMS messages, support the missions of more than 200 satellites and who employs 74,000 professionals from hundreds of locations worldwide.

Right now we are on the lookout for talent - students and school leavers, people who are passionate about technology and hungry to learn. You'll be proving yourself from day one - solving problems, taking responsibility, making decisions, working on classified mission-critical projects. And with open-ended prospects for advancement, you'll have every opportunity to reach the top.

What you'll get

Our Apprenticeship programmes are great for School Leavers that have a career path in mind and want to learn whilst earning at the same time. We have various apprenticeship programmes across our business and not only will you enjoy the benefits of a permanent, full-time employment contract, you can look forward to the structured training, hands-on learning, and the support and encouragement you need to get your career off to a strong start.

•Our Software Testing Apprenticeship is ideal for School Leavers that wish to pursue an IT/computing career and want to learn whilst earning at the same time. The apprenticeship is run in partnership with our training provider, Firebrand training. It is a 16-month programme which offers a blended learning approach. You will have 15 residential training days (delivered in Bedfordshire) over the course of your apprenticeship, accommodation and food will be covered. To support alongside this residential training, you will learn additional content through online learning and webinars. You could be based from our Reading office.

•Our Software Development Apprenticeship is ideal for School Leavers that wish to pursue an IT/computing career. The apprenticeship is run in partnership with our training provider, Makers Academy. It is a 12 month programme which includes 4 months of upfront training and you have Makers Apprenticeship Coach support throughout the apprenticeship. You can expect to learn modules such as Test-Driven Development, Object Oriented Programming, JavaScript and Frontend Development amongst others. You could be based from our Birmingham, Bristol, South Wales (Bridgend), London, Luton, Reading or Leatherhead offices.

During your apprenticeship you'll study for a recognised technology qualification. And what's even better is this learning is complemented by on-the-job training on real projects. So you can start to develop your career from day one.

Due to the nature of our business, you work on 'projects'. This means you have the opportunity to work across a wide range of roles, industries and locations, there is no 'typical day'. The best thing about joining us is that while you may start in one of area, the opportunity to move internally is huge, so you can take control of your career from your first day.

To support you, you will have designated managers who will look after you on a day-to-day basis and be on hand to support you with your career development and professional conduct at CGI. You will also have a 'Buddy' which is a current or graduated student of a school leaver programme to help you with anything else you may need.

Location of the role

We recruit apprentices into various base locations across the UK. On the Software Testing Apprenticeship, you could be based from our Reading office. On the Software Development Apprenticeship, you could be based from our Birmingham, Bristol, South Wales (Bridgend), London, Luton, Reading or Leatherhead offices. As CGI is a consultancy, your projects could be based from other locations asides from your base location, and you should therefore be prepared for travel in your role.
