Canterbury Gymnastics are based in Wincheap, Canterbury and offer recreational and competitive sporting opportunities for all those who want to take part, while encouraging more children and adults to participate with a wide range of different classes to suit all age groups.

We are affiliated to British Gymnastics South East Region and the Kent Gymnastics Association which enables us to take part in County and Regional competitions. ​The Club is continually expanding and we are always looking at new ways in which to grow and improve.


Description of Vacancy
This popular gymnastics club in Canterbury has an exciting opportunity available for somebody to complete an apprenticeship in Business Administration.

As the Apprentice Social Media & Operations Assistant, you will play an active role in the day-to-day running of the club, reporting directly to the General Manager.

Your role will be varied and have a focus on promoting the club on social media, as well as helping to prepare for events and competitions.

If you have an interest in sport, are keen to learn key administrative skills, and would like to join a friendly team, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.

This is a varied role where you will have a chance to gain experience in a number of areas. Tasks will include – but are not limited to – the following:

– Researching prices on new equipment and snacks

– Promoting the club on a range of social media platforms

– Customer facing duties, including responding to queries about classes and fees

– Timetabling lessons

– Preparation for competitions and events

– Maintaining online databases; processing accounts

– Scanning and filing duties


Wage
£117 per week with scope for more subject to performance.


Hours
30 working hours per week.

Whilst shifts will include some evenings and Saturdays, due to the nature of the business, these will be arranged in advance and there will be room for flexibility to your requirements. This to be discussed further at interview.


Skills Required
The successful candidate should have good communication skills, and be able to use initiative and be proactive within their work.


Personal Qualities 
Due to the nature of the working environment it would be beneficial if the successful candidate had an interest in sport. We are also looking for somebody with a good sense of humour and a lively personality, so if this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you!


Qualifications Required
Minimum grade C / 4 in English GCSE or equivalent.
Minimum grades D / 3 in Maths GCSE or equivalent.


Training Provided
On the job training with the employer whilst working towards the Apprenticeship Framework – consisting of the Intermediate NVQ Level, Technical Certificate and Functional Skills if appropriate.

Regular work based assessments/observations carried out by Kent Training & Apprenticeships Tutor Assessor, to determine competency and meet with Awarding Body standards.


Additional Details
As of 1st April 2019, the NMW for Apprentices is £3.90 per hour. This applies to 16 - 18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other Apprentices the Apprentice National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies.

The wage for Apprentices applies to both time spent on the job plus time spent in training.
