NCVO, in partnership with Queen Mary University of London, are recruiting an apprentice – social change.

The apprenticeship is a unique opportunity for you to study towards a BSc Business Management degree, whilst gaining work experience and skills development, from a national charity.

Through a rotation of placements within 8 teams across NCVO, you will benefit from broader organisation-wide learning, including:

  • Understanding stakeholder management, accountability and reporting, voluntary sector management and leadership.
  • Attending conferences and events eg Annual Conference, Members Assembly, Trustee conference, Parliamentary reception, Volunteers Week.
  • Attending meetings and committees eg Trustee Board, Audit & Risk Committee, NCVO trading board.

During term-time, you’ll spend 3 days a week with us, and 2 days a week studying towards a BSc Business Management degree. During non-term time, you’ll be with us Mon to Fri.

You are interested in and have an understanding of, the voluntary sector and / or volunteering. With strong organisation skills, you manage and prioritise your own work, working on your own initiative.

With excellent written and oral communication skill, these are underpinned by your IT and social media skills.

As an apprentice, you will be supported by NCVO’s HR team as well as a line manager during each placement. You’ll benefit from a mentor at NCVO, as well as support from your academic mentor and wider student support services at Queen Mary University of London.

To be eligible to apply, you’ll have one of the following qualifications:

A-level Excluding General Studies Critical thinking at grades AAA 

International Baccalaureate (IB) 36 points overall, including 6,6,6 from three Higher Level subjects. This must include a minimum of 4 in Standard Level Mathematics.

BTEC (RQF) at grades D*DD

Access HE (we consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma on a case-by-case basis)

and GCSE English and Mathematics at grade C or 4 or above, or equivalent relevant work experience.

You will be studying towards a BSc Business Management degree over a four year period, combining campus-based and work-based learning. Degree apprentices study alongside full-time students, and receive some additional support tailored to their specific needs e.g. employability-linked support to help degree apprentices understand the links between their study and employment and implications for their personal and professional development.

For campus-based modules, strategies include lectures, workshops and tutorial sessions, practical and library-based research, presentations and group work. For work-based modules, learning materials comparable to those for the equivalent campus-based module are provided, along with appropriate additional study guidance.
