Accountabilities (Deliverables):
  • Support the delivery of the WMCA's Equality and Diversity internal and external strategy and approach
  • To support the implementation of the WMCA's Corporate Social Responsibility programme
  • Implement the WMCA's approach to physical and mental health and well-being for its employees

Responsibilities (Duties):
  • To proactively promote Diversity and Equalities best practice internally and with partners
  • To develop and maintain close community links with a range of community groups, both regionally and locally and to support the development of services based on customer needs and expectations
  • To support the delivery of equalities awareness for WMCA staff
  • To research and produce a range of equality related briefing papers, toolkits and guidance notes for WMCA staff and external partners
  • To support the delivery of the Equalities Impact Assessments programme
  • Working with procurement to ensure our contractors meet key equality criteria
  • To work towards and establish areas of equalities best practice and encourage all areas of the WMCA to adopt them
  • To work with managers to improve existing services or initiate new programmes based on consultation findings
  • Internal equality initiatives, CSR and health and well-being initiatives including campaigns and awareness events
  • Support the delivery of the Thrive Wellbeing Action plan
  • Support key corporate volunteering activities and promote the Employer Supported Volunteering Programme
  • To keep abreast of latest wellbeing and CSR developments and research on best practice that can be adopted by the WMCA

Desired qualifications

  • A good standard of education, including maths and English at GCSE or equivalent level
  • 3 A levels or NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
  • Proficient in Microsoft software such as Office, Excel, PowerPoint
  • A recognised qualification in office skills or administration is desirable

There may be a requirement to work outside normal office hours on occasion to meet work deadlines, attend meetings etc.
