The Chartered Valuation Surveyor Apprenticeship will typically take 5 years to complete. It includes a BSc (Hons) degree in Real Estate and qualification as a full chartered member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS). As an apprentice with the Valuation Office Agency,you will undertake a variety of roles to ensure that you have the experience required to be successful in your Apprenticeship.
On joining our Apprenticeship programme, you will work across our Property Data and Regional Valuation Units, surveying and valuing properties for either Council Tax or Non-Domestic Rating. Once you have undertaken relevant training and developed your confidence, you'llbe given responsibility for your own caseload. But that doesn't mean you'll be left to cope alone - as a key member of the team, you'll be supervised and supported by an experienced Chartered Valuation Surveyor.
During the course of your Apprenticeship you will progress to a valuation caseworker role, working with your Supervisor and other team members you will be undertaking valuations of different properties for a wide variety of purposes. Additionally, you will have support of the Learning and Development team who will provide you with advice and guidance throughout the programme.
Because we take APC requirements seriously, an individual training programme will be put in place for you, we'll do everything we can to make sure that you get the right mix of work and breadth of experience required to complete your Assessment of Professional Competence to become a Chartered Valuation Surveyor. You'll also benefit from a comprehensive induction, e-learning programmes and a wide range of training initiatives.

Desired qualifications
For standard entry applicants, must have obtained 96 UCAS tariff points (2017 Tariff) or 230 UCAS tariff points (2016 Tariff) or have an equivalent level of attainment through recognised qualifications not included in the UCAS Tariff
Or,
Have completed an Advanced Apprenticeship in Surveying or an Advanced Apprenticeship in Construction Technical through which a Construction and Built Environment Diploma with a minimum DD profile was obtained or through which a Construction and Built Environment Extended Diploma with a minimum MMM profile was obtained, or an equivalent qualification
Or,
Have a current RICS Associate qualification (AssocRICS)
And,
Have GCSE (or equivalent) Grade C or above in English and mathematics (Grade 4 for applicants holding newly reformed GCSEs in England) or an equivalent Level 2 qualification in English and mathematics as defined by the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in England.
*Recognised qualifications having an equivalent level of attainment as those recognised by UCAS include: Higher National Certificate (HNC), Higher National Diploma (HND), professional qualifications from recognised institutions, certain armed forces qualifications and partially completed degrees.
Future prospects
Gain Chartered Surveyor Status.
Things to consider
The Apprentice role will involve an element of home study to fulfil the requirements of the qualification. Due to existing IT security restrictions you may not be able to access some of the relevant online learning via the VOA computer system.
Please note that it may be necessary for you to use your own IT equipment.
