Crowcon offers fixed and portable gas detection equipment based on expertise in mechanical and electronic design and software development and an understanding of the physics and chemistry of gas detection.

Role Profile:
  • Working within the Manufacturing Engineering team you will provide support to operations, ensuring our life-saving products and services are completed following the correct processes and procedures. To be successful in this role you will be a technically capable technician with good problem-solving skills.

Main objectives of role:
  • Through investigation you will support all process downtime, investigating issues and resolving ensuring the production of units follows the correct and documented process.
  • By providing day-to-day problem support to the production teams you will ensure that Crowcon's products meet our customers' requirements.
  • Continuous improvement of process and tooling ensuring robust, repeatable and efficient methods are used and adopted.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Support extended team in determining root cause of issues within the production cells, fixing issues with any process or tooling to conduct process. Using the Plant Quality Investigation (PQI) database, to ensure consistent manufacturing to the desired standards.
  • Be involved in the pro-active continuous improvement of the production, servicing, repairs and warranty processes.
  • Support the investigation and resolution of process issues reported in production PQI, Non-conformance reports.
  • Servicing of asset tracked items in production under the TPM schedule.
  • Support the calibration and maintenance activities as required

Person Profile:
  • You will develop a high technical competence in investigating faults with electro-mechanical tooling and manufacturing processes, with the ability to use your knowledge to guide improvements.
  • You will be able to work well with the production team to support their activities and will be able to balance priorities effectively in busy periods.
  • Ability to train others to set procedures and standards required within manufacturing.
  • You will have a calm, professional approach to customers and personnel within Crowcon.
  • To be successful in this role you will learn good problem solving skills and an excellent understanding of Crowcon products.
  • Are self-motivated, driven and organised to have the ability to prioritise workloads to ensure zero stoppages and maximum possible up time. To be able to communicate effectively to the assembly team to ensure a shared understanding of the issues seen.


Requirements and prospects

  • A good base understanding of electronic engineering with ability to use problem solving to determine the root cause of an issue

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
  • Present information in a clear written and verbal way to all levels within the business


Desired qualifications

  • BTEC Level 3 in engineering or equivalent A-levels (maths, Science etc.)


Future prospects

Following successful completion of the apprenticeship the applicant will move into a full time line technician role. Previous line technicians have grown into Manufacturing Engineers, Development Engineers and Quality Engineers. All this growth is fully supported with onsite and offsite training required to meet the needs of the role.
