The Economics team are at the heart of the strategic consulting business, demonstrating the value of spending money, identifying environmentally progressive solutions and encouraging inclusive economic growth.

The successful individual will be working towards alevel 6 degree (BSc(hons) in Economics). This will be taught at the University of Kent, Canterbury for a duration of 4 years with 80% of your time spent with Jacobs and 20% at the University of Kent.

Key responsibilities

Working as an economist involves the development and use of:
  • Quantitative skills: manipulating and presenting data
  • Writing and Presentation techniques: clearly communicating your analysis to a wide range of audiences
  • Applied economic skills: using economic insights and techniques to inform decision making for clients in the public and private sector on a wide variety of topics from the renovation of the House of Parliament through to the potential sale of international airports
  • You will also support teams within the wider strategic consulting unit including digital solutions, asset management and transport planning

Requirements and prospects

Desired skills

  • Confident communications skills both spoken and verbal
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Experience of using MS office packages; particularly Microsoft Excel and Word

Personal qualities

An interest in infrastructure, urban growth and environment.

Desired qualifications

Entry requirements are GCSE orequivalent in maths at grade B (6) or above with at least 96 UCAS points at A-level (equivalent to CCC) or a BTEC (MMM/DD). You do not need to have previously studied economics to apply.

Future prospects

There is the opportunity to go onto further study to enable you to be qualified to progress onto: Postgraduate studies.
